Obligations and Liabilities of the OH&S Professional: Classroom

This two-day course is designed to develop an awareness and understanding of the obligations and potential liabilities that may be encountered by the OH&S professional when providing advice in the area of occupational health and safety. The focus is upon defining the types of obligations and potential liabilities and illustrating ways and means of reducing these risks.

Who Should Attend

Because every occupational health and safety professional can be at risk, this seminar provides invaluable information to every level of experience - from the novice to the seasoned professional and from the "internal" consultant to the commercial consultant.   • Learning what standard of care and skill is expected of an OHS practitioner

  • Understanding what is a “report disclaimer” and when you might need one
  • Discussing the major ethical issues faced by the OH&S profession
  • Discussing (in-depth) the liabilities faced, based on contracts and legislation
  • Understanding the role of professional liability insurance
  • Understanding the application of privilege and disclosure to the OH&S consultant
  • Learning what are the important elements of an OH&S contract

    HOW DOES IT WORK? Upon registration, you will be given the URL address and a unique password. You will have one month to work your way through the five units of the online course. You can download the course and reference material for easy reference later. At the end of one month, or when you have completed the course, you will be given access to the downloadable exam, which you complete and return to the CSSE office for marking. You will have two weeks to complete the exam. Successful completion of the exam does count towards the requirements for the CHSC designation (for information on the CHSC designation: http://www.csse.org/content/certification/index.asp)
