We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager who will be responsible for the Environmental, Health & Safety program ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. This includes planning, implementing, monitoring and optimizing organizational processes to prevent injury, illness, and adverse environmental impacts. The EHS Manager is responsible for advising, directing and coordinating Quantum’s Integrated Management System (IMS) elements associated with environmental health and safety (ISO14001, ISO45001, R2v3) and managing QEHS team members and employees who indirectly support EHS compliance at site/divisional levels. 

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program, including continued compliance with current and future standards (ISO 14001, ISO45001, R2).
• Provide leadership for EHS programs including risk assessments, incident investigations, process safety, lockout-tagout, ergonomics, fire and emergency response programs, WHMIS, industrial hygiene and medical surveillance, battery safety, vehicle safety, contractor safety and pre-start reviews.
• Champion EHS programs to ensure compliance with sites’ environmental permitting, import/export waste permits/approvals, environmental monitoring and reporting (GHG, NPRI), transport of hazardous waste and batteries, fire and spill prevention.
• Responsible for development and coordination of the EHS change management program including capital project reviews, change controls and process & maintenance changes.
• Conduct and/or oversee EHS audits and equipment/site inspections to ensure compliance with internal, regulatory, and standard requirements for EHS.
• Direct, support and manage performance of direct report(s), and provide direction and support to indirect report(s), committees, etc. responsible for contributing to site/department EHS programs
• Establish effective business partnerships to assure continuous improvement of the IMS through management reviews, meeting targets for TRIR and LTIR, EHS training, strategic EHS plans/initiatives, and inspections.
• Develop and/or deliver training and communication material to support the IMS and training compliance.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in environmental health sciences, toxicology, environmental health and safety, occupational health and safety, or a related field
• 3-5 years’ experience with ISO management systems, 1-3 years’ experience completing audits to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, R2 and / or e-Stewards
• Occupational Health & Safety Diploma/Degree, Board accredited certification (e.g. CRSP, CSP, CIH, ROH, COH, CNOH, CCPE, CHSC, EP)
• Knowledge of Canadian regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety, hazardous waste, electronic waste, TDG, IATA, and international shipments of waste
• Knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) and R2 standards
• Knowledge of Basel Convention for e-waste, preferred

• Exposure to warehousing and processing environment
• Approximately <20% yearly travel required to other facilities
