The Role

The successful incumbent will be responsible for leading continuous improvement, development, implementation, participation all health and safety related functions for the facility.

  • Review, revise and track revisions to health and safety documentation including work instructions, safety plans and policies
  • Investigate and document all incidents including near miss reports
  • Document, track and complete all required health and safety records
  • Maintenance of legally required documents (e.g., SDS)
  • Organize/Conduct and document routine as well as mandatory safety training (e.g., forklifts, crane, WHMIS)
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Health and Safety programs, procedures, forms, and work instructions
  • Track safety statistics for trends, suggest and lead improvements
  • Schedule, conduct and document inspections; follow up on corrective actions
  • Participate with the preparation of the management review
  • Schedule, document and maintain Health and Safety agendas, meetings, and minutes
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs
  • Schedule and conduct internal inspections within the facility
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism when dealing with staff, various departments within DSI and visitors
  • Participate in continuous improvement
  • Participate in the Return-to-Work program and monitor in conjunction with HR.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements based on trends, audits findings, incidents and nonconformance reports
  • Provides recommendations to alternative processes or procedures to reduce risk
  • Training personnel in health and safety procedures and documentation
  • Identify, report and lead improvements to address unsafe work practices
  • Ensure that training and education requirements for staff are carried out and effective.

Your Profile

  • Secondary Education in Occupation Health and Safety
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Excellent computer proficiency with relevant systems
  • Strong knowledge of lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to understand, monitor and update existing business/work processes
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
