CSSE leadership and our members can create a meaningful appeal for others to join us by acting as ambassadors and reaching out to their personal and professional networks.
Special Promotions
CSSE has sponsored incentives to help leaders and members with their recruitment efforts.
- If a member-refers-a-member by July 31, 2022 they will be entered into a draw to win 1 of 10 visa gift cards.
- Approved by the Board in June 2022, if a student joins CSSE, they will pay only $22.22 for an annual membership (half price regular student dues).
How to Get Started
- Organize a group of chapter volunteers to lead your outreach effort
- Develop a marketing and communications plan
- Create a list of potential members
- Hint: think of local employers in your area with large populations of OHS practitioners, or have a priority on safe workplaces
- Contact [email protected] and have your chapter member list extracted. Are there current members that work for large organizations that you can make a personal appeal for their support?
- Did you know….an organization with 5 or more members get a group discount on CSSE membership?
- Create a list of potential members
Many CSSE volunteers have executed innovative ideas to recruit new members. Here are some ideas you could implement in your community:
- Encourage members to bring a colleague for free to your next professional development event
- Plan a Coffee Chat or “Thirst-Day” event. Organize a virtual or in person networking event and encourage every member to bring a colleague.
- Hold an open office hour. Have local leaders available in a “virtual room” for members and prospective members drop in ask questions or learn more about CSSE.
- Post an appeal to join to your own personal social network
- Send a personal email to your peers asking them to join
