2021 Board of Directors Election

  

In accordance with the Bylaws of the Society, there are four (4) Board positions up for election in 2021:

  • Education Director
  • Regional Vice-President for the following regions:
    • British Columbia/Yukon
    • Ontario/Quebec
    • Alberta/Northwest Territories/Nunavut

In addition, as a result of a mid-term vacancy, there is the need to replace the Vice President/Treasurer

  • NOTE:  As this will be a continuation of the existing term of Vice President/Treasurer until 2022, the successful candidate for this role will be appointed and assume the role immediately upon election, and will transition to President in 2022.

To be eligible to hold an elected office, a person must be a voting* Member in good standing** of the Society, and:

In the case of the office of Education Director, the candidate:

1.       Shall have been a member of the Education Steering Committee for at least one full year;

2.       Shall hold the CHSC designation;

3.       Shall have been involved in needs assessment, design, development, delivery and evaluation of training programs utilizing adult learning principles; AND

4.       Can demonstrate an understanding of the SOCIETY’s current strategy and objectives.

In the case of the office of Regional Vice-President, the candidate:

1.       Shall have served at least two (2) years as Chair of a CHAPTER, OR have served at least four (4) years as a member of the Chapter Executive (Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer); AND

2.       Have been a member of the Society for not less than five (5) years; AND

3.       Reside in the Region for which the office is representative; AND

4.       Have or be in the process of getting the CHSC designation or Professional membership in the Society; AND

5.       Can demonstrate leadership experience in a not-for-profit setting and an understanding of the Canadian safety environment; AND

6.       Can demonstrate an understanding of the SOCIETY’s current strategies and objectives.


In the case of the office of Vice-President/Treasurer, the candidate:

1.       Shall have served as a Regional Vice-President, OR

2.       Shall have been a member of the SOCIETY for not less than ten (10) years; AND

3.       Shall have served as an officer of a CHAPTER or Chair of a National Committee for a minimum of one year; AND

4.       Shall have or be in the process of getting the CHSC designation or professional membership in the SOCIETY; AND

5.       Can demonstrate leadership experience in a not-for-profit setting and an understanding of the Canadian safety environment; AND

6.       Can demonstrate an understanding of the SOCIETY’s current strategy and objectives.


Note: Nominations for all positions must have the signature of the candidate indicating acceptance of the nomination, plus the signatures of at least two (2) CSSE voting* members in good standing** as nominators.
  For the position of Regional Vice-President, those nominators must reside in the regional jurisdiction.

Once a nomination has been received, the candidate will receive a package requesting information on the required and desired competencies for review by the Nomination Committee. Once the candidate’s information has been reviewed by the Nomination Committee to ensure the candidate meets the eligibility requirements, the candidate's name will be added to the election slate.
