Topic: The Faces of Workplace Tragedy

From the moment a worker is injured the ripple effect begins. The Faces of Workplace Tragedy will take you on a journey through a real-life workplace tragedy, and share with you the true ripple that occurs following the trauma. Through the incident management process, we often prepare for our response to the incident at the worksite, but are we prepared for the impact to those who bear witness to the event, the families who receive the life changing phone calls, or for the injuries that aren’t always visible? It has been said that motivations are more powerful when anchored in the human heart. This session will speak to your heart and share with you one family’s struggle to navigate their new normal.

Speaker: Wynny Sillito

Wynny Sillito is a health and safety specialist with 10+ years’ experience in construction, oil & gas, and emergency response. Wynny works to inspire people to believe in the importance of workplace health and safety programs through sharing her personal experiences with workplace safety, or lack thereof.

Throughout her career, she has been involved closely with a number of serious workplace incidents, but none has influenced her career more than her own personal experience with workplace tragedy. On a winter day in 2011, Wynny went to work as an EMT‐A prepared to save the lives of others, but could never have foreseen the events of that day, and how they would change her life forever. In sharing the story of her personal experience with workplace tragedy, Wynny hopes to prevent other workers and their families from sharing the same experience.

We hope to see you there!
