Building Mental Health into Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs

When critical events happen that affect our lives and the way we do work, there can be an impact on the mental health of workers. When events are widespread, sudden and leave us with uncertainty in the near future, they can have an impact on the mental health of workers. As we navigate the continued response to Covid-19 and the eventual lifting of emergency measures, we need to look at how to build mental health into our emergency management and business continuity programs. Organizations that do will be better able move forward in a coordinated and effective manner that protects their workers while focusing on solutions to support their operations. This webinar covers how to use the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace for guidance.

About Liz Horvath:

Liz is guided by a deep passion to help people succeed without unnecessary suffering from injury or illness.

For nearly 25 years, Liz has been guiding organizations throughout Canada to achieve better business outcomes through implementation of occupational health and safety management systems. Her career has included managing health and safety in unionized manufacturing facilities, leading a team of consultants in the OHS practice of one of Canada’s leading employment and labour law firms, and running her own health and safety company which focused on lowering the risk of stress-related injuries. Liz also managed the development of several ground-breaking OHS national standards, including Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, Management of Work in Confined Spaces, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, and OHS Training.

She joined the Opening Minds Team of the Mental Health Commission of Canada in August 2019, where she leads the development and delivery of the Workplace Mental Health Program. This program is designed to support employ
