Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace Workshop

 

 

The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) has designed a unique workshop to provide guidance on how to establish a firm foundation for implementing the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the Standard) in an organization.

 

Attend this one-day two-part workshop that will help you establish the foundation in:

  1. Defining Leadership in Psychological Health and Safety, and
  2. Integrating a Workplace Mental Health Strategy.

 

Workshop Overview:

 

Facilitators of the MHCC will lead participants through the National Standard of Canada for psychological health and safety in the workplace (CSA Z1003) and how to successfully create a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. This workshop will help those who are seeking to implement a workplace mental health strategy that aligns with the Standard and ensure a visible and demonstrated commitment from leadership to psychological health and safety.

 

 

Dates: November 9th and November 16th (A one day course, offered on two different dates)

Time: 0900 – 1600 MST

Facilitator Bios:

Liz Horvath, B.A.Sc., CRSP,

Manager, Workplace Mental Health

Mental Health Commission of Canada

Liz is an accomplished consultant, coach and international speaker known for her empathy, interpersonal skills, and expertise in health and safety management systems. For over 25 years, Liz has been helping organizations achieve better results by keeping workers healthy, safe, and productive. She currently leads the Workplace Mental Health program at the Mental Health Commission of Canada, where she helps organizations implement workplace mental health strategies that align with the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Throughout her career, Liz has worked with executives, managers, supervisors, union members and committees to identify key issues and implement practical solutions with measurable impact. She has dealt successfully with situations and claims involving physical health and safety hazards and psychological stressors through her previous roles. Before joining the MHCC, Liz was the CSA Group lead on the development of the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Liz is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and a member of Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), the International Association on Workplace Bullying and Harassment (IAWBH), the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI), and the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA). She is a dedicated wife and grandmother, and actively supports charitable organizations that work to improve the lives of people in desperate need.

 

Tiana Field-Ridley

Implementation Specialist, Workplace Mental Health

Mental Health Commission of Canada

Tiana is passionate about educating communities and individuals about the importance of positive mental health. She has focused her career on helping individuals, by taking a background approach and working with mental health systems and how they interact with the law. This perspective has given her an in-depth knowledge of some of the needs of Canadians and areas that we can improve for positive mental health, as a society.

Tiana is currently working with the Mental Health Commission of Canada as a workplace implementation specialist helping to develop and deliver services to support employers with implementation of workplace mental health strategies that align with the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Previously, Tiana was self-employed as an independent Mental Health First Aid instructor and communication and conflict management consultant with a dedicated focus on community development. She has a demonstrated history of working in the mental health services industry and a vast amount of experience in the mental health and judicial systems in Alberta, having served on the Alberta Mental Health Review Panel, a quasi-judicial decision making board, for the past 6 years. Tiana has also been appointed to the Alberta Appeals Commission Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.

Tiana has experience working with people who have been in contact with the Mental Health Act, along with front line experience with people experiencing mental health crisis. Through her work with Legal Aid Alberta, Tiana is familiar with issues related to human rights, workers’ compensation, and other workplace matters. She is also certified in mediation and conflict resolution as well as workplace fairness restoration.
