Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Safety, the Director, Safety, Systems & Assurance (Director) is responsible for implementing BC Hydro’s Safety Framework and developing and executing safety projects and programs across the organization, primarily in collaboration with groups that work on the power system. This role works in close consultation with diverse leaders across BC Hydro to lead strategic business planning and projects, integrate sustainable solutions that drive improved safety performance, and build upon an overall culture of safety. The Director leads a team of safety professionals and program managers, providing ongoing coaching and support.

The Director provides advice to business unit leaders in setting safety strategy, policy, standards, metrics, and targets for BC Hydro. They also lead safety program development, implementation, and sustainment efforts across the organization, ultimately ensuring employees at all levels are empowered to protect themselves from hazards and injuries on and off the job. The portfolio includes responsibility for safety investigations, corrective actions, business planning, safety risk management, and public safety management.

The ideal candidate offers an impressive track record of implementing progressive safety policies and procedures in a large, geographically dispersed, complex, and unionized environment. The targeted salary range for this position is $210,000 - $225,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
