What is the opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, the Safety Audit Specialist, will oversee and administer the safety auditing requirements of Energy Safety Canada and various governing bodies. In this role, the Audit Specialist participates in project activities to enhance the COR program. Also, completes quality assurance reviews on audits, identify potential or real violations of the code of ethics, participate in investigations and support auditors and reviewers in continuous improvement of the audit review process.

What will you do

  • Review safety audits, including Certification Audits to ensure they meet government requirements and perform quality assurance checks.
  • Lead activities under the Auditor Performance Management and coaching of auditors. Conduct activities under the Auditor Account Manager Program. Participate in WIVA and OSAR audit activities.
  • Lead activities under the various Management System auditing process (COR, OMS, etc.). Assist with the HSE and SA&C Operational Management Manuals.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of audit protocols and associated software used by Energy Safety Canada Provide assistance for the creation and revision of documents, policies and procedures related to the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) system and SA&C.
  • Responsible for project work related to the Safety Audits and Certifications Operational Plans. Assist with the delivery of the Workshop Program and development of topics and content.
  • Other duties as required

What you need to succeed

  • Post-secondary education in Health and Safety or related field
  • Completed a recognized safety designation (or working to obtain) such as: CRSP, CSP
  • 5+ years’ experience working in health and safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel
  • SharePoint experience is an asset
  • COR auditor, ISO or other international audit certification is considered an asset
  • Applied experience with the implementation and safety auditing of management systems
  • Knowledge of the Certificate of Recognition program
  • Project experience is an asset
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
