  • Vice-Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

No Candidates were nominated. Current Chair/Incumbent (Brenda Madley) will continue until her successor is elected or appointed.

Vice-Chair (Acclaimed)

Name: Aimee Arsenault
Company: Tridon Communications

  •   Aimee's Biography
    • As an active volunteer within the CSSE, I feel that I have the right qualifications for the vice-chair position within the Edmonton Chapter. My current role as the Health and Safety Manager at Tridon Communications allows me to bring forward operational and management experience related to employee engagement, budgeting, and strategic planning. The position of Communications and Engagement Director has allowed me to learn about the CSSE association engaging with fellow volunteers at the chapter, regional, and national levels as well as working with members of the CSSE staff to support various “making the most of your membership” initiatives. In addition to my Chapter commitments, I am a member of the CSSE Communications Committee and a member of the Structural Tower Antenna Council. The transition from board member to executive member is an opportunity for me to bring new ideas to the executive level, continue working with fellow volunteers, and mentor volunteers in the Chapter. If successful in my nomination, it would be my goal to continue creating a Chapter with opportunities for networking, professional development, and mentorship. Thank you for your consideration.

Treasurer (Acclaimed)

Name: JP Mainville
Company: Morningstar Air Express Inc.

  •   JP's Biography
    • I, Jean-Pierre Mainville have submitted my name to remain on the CSSE Edmonton Chapter’s executive as treasurer for a second term. I have been actively involved as a board member with the chapter since 2012 and started my first term on the executive in October of 2016. I have recently been working with Trevor Johnson and the national executive to start working on the proposed new financial governance models they want to roll out. As the largest chapter and the one most likely impacted by these new proposed processes, we have been asked to assist in working out the bugs. Due to these changes, I believe it would be best if I remain on the executive to ease the transition. I believe the role of the chapter executive committee is to ensure our local members receive maximum benefit for their membership in the CSSE. Each member should feel appreciated and receive value for the membership fees they pay. If you elect me as treasurer, I will do my best to support you, our local members, and the chapter executive committee.

Secretary

Name: Matt Cook
Company: Arrow Transportation Systems Inc.

  •   Matt's Biography
    • Hello, Edmonton Chapter Members. I’m Matt Cook and I’m pleased to be running for the position of Secretary. I am a Canadian Registered Safety Professional and have worked for Arrow Transportation Systems Inc. for the past 11 years, currently I am the Director of HSE. We are a company that predominantly provides services to the resource and civil engineering sectors with approximately 40 operations across Canada and the USA.

As someone who feels passionately about safety in the workplace, I have been and continue to be heavily involved with the CSSE. To further build on this, I am interested in serving in an official capacity to give back to my chapter and its members. I currently sit on a number of committees including Alberta Motor Transport Association, BC Forest Safety and American Society of Safety Professionals (Transport Practice Specialty). With the AMTA I was on the committee that was instrumental in the design and development of the newly released Certified Transportation Safety Professional designation, the first of its kind aimed at safety professionals working in the commercial transportation sector. I feel that my experience on these committees, my work experience and professional development will serve me well in this position. Thank you for considering me for this position

    • Hello, my name is John Freeman and I'm running for the position of chapter Secretary. I have been a member for over ten years and would like to start giving back. As a CRSP since 2012, I have been working for National Oilwell Varco as their HSE Regional Manager for eight years now. I have a general understanding of the duties a secretary may perform and hope to bring some new ideas and fun with me to this position. I have semi-neat writing, can type at least 12 words a minute, and I make a good cup of coffee. I hope you will consider voting for me. Thanks, John.

Name: Christl Aggus
Company: Principle Safety

  •   Christl's Biography
    • Your secretary should be a positive, genuine and passionate advocate, able to facilitate and motivate – skills I have acquired during my career. My name is Christl Aggus, and my health & safety career began about 20 yrs ago in an administrative capacity for a medium sized manufacturing facility. Safety quickly became a passion and the focus of my professional life. I left the corporate world in 2009 and began dedicating my time and focus to Health & Safety. I am looking to expand my experience in governance to compliment my managerial skills and give back to an organization that has given me a great deal.

I currently work with Principle Safety, as a Management Consultant specializing in Health & Safety, predominantly working with small to medium sized businesses to achieve and maintain an effective health & safety management system. I consult with business owners and senior management teams to develop and implement effective policy and procedure and integration of safety into current business practices. I graduated from the University of Alberta OHS Certificate program and have attended countless learning seminars and conferences because I truly enjoy the many facets of safety and learn so much from those working within the industry. My designations include the Certified Health & Safety Consultant from the CSSE, Canadian Registered Safety Professional from the BCRSP, Canadian Risk Management from Global Risk Management Institute, and most recently, a Certified Psychological Health & Safety Advisor. My qualifications for this position include having run a successful consulting business for 10 years; having chaired & co-chaired various committees; produced countless agendas and kept minutes. As an external auditor, I am acutely aware of the function and necessity of accurate record keeping. As a manager I am diligent ensuring employees are trained and mentored, schedules are maintained and time is used efficiently and effectively, communication and feedback is a key component of my management style. I have been volunteering within the CSSE at both the local and National levels for the past 5 years, working with the local NAOSH Committee and National Education Committee.
